Luna Barragán
Research Assistant, Ecuador
Luna joined Pacific Whale Foundation in 2022. She graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in 2019, majoring in Biological and Environmental Science from Universidad Central del Ecuador. For her honours thesis research, she studied the humpback whale song in Machalilla National Park under the supervision of Dr. Castro. As Research Assistant in Ecuador, Luna is responsible for digitizing and quality-controlling a large photo-ID catalog of humpback whales, managing a strandings database, and assisting with data collection in the field. Luna has previous experience working for other environmental agencies in Ecuador promoting sustainable development and waste reduction.
